SUMMARY:Careers at IDA – Science Policy & National Security Analysis
DESCRIPTION:Join Cornell alumna Abby Goldman (PhD ’18\, Materials Science & Engineering) and Steve Rabinowitz for an online presentation and discussion about career opportunities in science policy and national security analysis at the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA). IDA is a federally-funded think tank that provides objective technical and policy analyses to the Federal government on a range of multidisciplinary topics. IDA assists the United States Government in addressing important national security and science policy issues\, covering a spectrum of topics from basic science and system evaluations to cost analyses\, workforce\, human-machine interfaces\, cybersecurity\, intelligence\, and strategic planning. Following graduation from Cornell\, Goldman joined the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA)\, specifically within their Science Technology Policy Institute (STPI). Rabinowitz has been working in IDA’s Operational Evaluation Division for 28 years\, where he leads the Undersea Warfare task. \nTo Register \nFull-time positions as Research Staff Members and Research Associates are available to qualified candidates with master’s and doctoral degrees in a variety of STEM fields as well as social sciences. IDA also runs a Summer Associate program for graduate students and rising senior undergraduates and two-year Science Policy Fellowships and three-year Data Science Fellowships for recent bachelor’s and master’s degree recipients. Because all candidates must be eligible to obtain security clearance\, U.S. citizenship is required. \nA zoom link will be sent to all registrants the day before the event. For more events promoted by Careers Beyond Academia\, please visit our website. \nAccessibility Requests \nWe strive to make our events accessible to all community members. Individuals who would like to request accessibility accommodations should contact gradcareers@cornell.edu. We ask that requests be made at least one week in advance to help ensure they can be met.
