Join us on Thursday\, September 23 (12:00 p.m. ET) in Upson Lounge (Room 116) for a panel discussion hosted by Cornell Engineering’s Entrepreneurs in Residence. \nA panel of successful Cornell Engineering alumni and SBIR awardees will be present to share their experiences with SBIR funding\, including best practices for applying and challenges faced during the application process\, as well as updates on the progress they have been able to make on their innovations since being awarded an SBIR grant. \nSpace is limited\, so please RSVP in advance. \nCornell Engineering Faculty and Graduate Student Panel Discussion: Lessons Learned from SBIR Awardees\nThursday\, September 23 (12:00 p.m. ET) – Upson Lounge\, Room 116 \nAlumni panelists include: \nIlayda Samilgil\, ’19\nCEO and co-founder of Organic Robotics\, a company that creates stretchable sensing technology branded as Light Lace. The startup recently won $50k in the NFL’s 1st & Future competition\, sponsored by the National Football League. \nAlejandro Cortese\, PhD ’19\nCo-founder and CEO of OWiC Technologies\, Inc\, an early-stage startup that spun out of doctoral research on microscopic optical wireless integrated circuits\, or OWiCs\, at Cornell University. \nAustin Hickman\, PhD ’21\nA doctoral candidate in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Cornell University\, working under the guidance of Prof. Debdeep Jena and Prof. Grace Xing. His work is focused on the fabrication and characterization of next generation RF transistors\, as well as the semiconductor physics underlying the devices. These III-Nitride\, high-electron-mobility transistors are targeting high-power\, mm-wave applications.

Requests should be made as soon as possible. \n********************************************** \nBECOMING A RESILIENT SCIENTIST SERIES\nNavigating school\, the career exploration process\, research environments\, and the stress of national/international news can seem overwhelming and lead us to doubt ourselves just when we need confidence the most. Through workshops in this series\, we will work to identify attitudes and behaviors that can help us be more resilient as we navigate difficult situations in school\, work and life. Each workshop will highlight emotional intelligence competencies needed for success in research and healthcare careers and will provide strategies for developing these competencies as part of your educational journey. While you may participate in any of the webinars\, it is best to participate in the entire series as the material relates and concepts will be developed throughout the series.
