DESCRIPTION:For a growing number of humanities (and other) PhDs\, the field of consulting represents an opportunity to translate their love of and expertise in research into a rewarding career path. Established consultancies are eager to employ candidates with doctoral training in a wide range of capacities\, while motivated and creative PhDs are often able to develop a client base and set their own professional agenda. DESCRIPTION:This four-part\, free\, online career development workshop will provide you with interactive experiences and guidance as you prepare to move beyond academia and pursue your career\, and an opportunity to network with industry representatives!\nWith an increasing number of available jobs shifting from academia to industry settings\, understanding the skills necessary to compete for and succeed in an industry position is critical. \nAgenda\nheld from 3-7pm EST each day \nMay 18th\, 2023 (Day 1) : Business of Science \nMay 19th\, 2023 (Day 2): Communications for Scientists \nMay 22nd\, 2023 (Day 3): Project Management \nMay 23rd\, 2023 (Day 4): Networking for Success \nIn addition\, representatives from each of the sponsors will share hiring opportunities during the workshops on designated days. \nDetails of the events\nWho should attend? This workshop series is for graduate students\, doctoral candidates and post-docs looking for professional guidance as they pursue their careers. Participants may still be enrolled in their professional programs or recent graduates. \nDate and Format: The entire virtual workshop will take place over the course of four half-day sessions over 2 weeks starting May 18\, and includes several virtual networking opportunities with representatives from sponsor companies throughout the program.
