DESCRIPTION:Learn about different types of industry careers in development\, alumni relations and communications. Come join this panel discussion and interactive networking session with professionals who represent various sectors. The speakers will share their advice\, pros and cons of working in this environment\, and how they transitioned from academia. Come armed with your own questions which will be discussed throughout the session. \nSpeakers \nDiane Butler\, PhD\, Director of Binghamton University Art Museum \nDiane Butler has been the director of the Binghamton University Art Museum since 2012. She has an eclectic background: an undergraduate degree in music\, and master’s degrees in Africana Studies and art history\, as well as a PhD in art history from Cornell University. For her dissertation she studied maps of Africa printed between the 16th and 18th centuries. Prior to her arrival at Binghamton University\, Diane worked at three academic museums – in the education and curatorial departments at the Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University\, as a curator at Colgate University\, and as the Andrew W. Mellon Coordinator of Academic Affairs at the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center at Vassar College. \nBanoo Parpia\, PhD\,  Cornell University\, Alumni Affairs and Development \nAn epidemiologist by training\, Banoo began her career at Cornell in 1986 as a Senior Research Associate in Nutritional Science at the College of Human Ecology\, before going on to serve as an associate in the International Regional Office. She joined Major Gifts in 2009. \nAndrew Mahlstedt\, PhD\, United World College \nAndrew Mahlstedt\, PhD\, is currently Director of the project to open a UWC in Colombia\, and Global National Committee Development Consultant for UWC International. He holds a B.A. and an M.A. (English) from Middlebury College\, an M.A. (International Comparative Education) from Stanford University\, and a PhD (English) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Until 2016\, he was Deputy Head and taught History and English at the United World College (UWC) in Mostar\, Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition to the UWC in Mostar\, he has taught at the Mahindra United World College of India\, the Prison University Project at San Quentin Prison\, the University of Wisconsin-Madison\, and Middlebury College. \n  \nTo Register \nA zoom link will be sent to all registrants the day before the event.
