SUMMARY:Graduate Students Mentoring Undergraduates (GSMU) Mentor Social
DESCRIPTION:Graduate Students Mentoring Undergraduates (GSMU) program is a collaborative initiative between The Office of Academic Diversity Initiatives (OADI) and the Graduate School Office of Inclusion & Student Engagement (OISE) and is designed to support the scholarship and professional development of undergraduate scholars in the Pre-Professional Programs\, McNair Scholars Program\, and OADI Research Scholars. \nThe GSMU program strives to: \n\nCollectively create and maintain a safe space for the cultivation of open\, authentic\, and honest relationships with GSMU community members\nInform students’ pursuit of graduate studies by exposing them to and encouraging their exploration of different disciplines and post-baccalaureate journeys\nEncourage students to reflect on their undergraduate experiences thus far and consider how to shape future experiences in service of their pursuit of graduate studies\n\nIn addition to supporting undergraduate students’ paths through academic life\, GSMU aims to support graduate mentors in their own growth and development. In this vein\, our objective is to support graduate mentors as they: \n\nShare and reflect on their experiences in order to validate mentees’ experiences\, inform students and support their growth\, and expand their horizons and perspectives on how to manage successes and challenges in their academic journeys.\nFacilitate discussion and reflection\nCultivate healthy and equitable relationships as mentors\, colleagues\, and educators

SUMMARY:NextGen Professors: December Cohort Meeting
DESCRIPTION:This is an invitation-only event for applicants who have been selected to participate in this year’s NextGen Professors cohort. \nNextGen Professors is a career-development program focused on preparing Cornell doctoral students and postdocs for faculty careers across institutional types. The primary audience for this program is doctoral students (in year 3 or beyond) and postdocs from backgrounds historically underrepresented in the professoriate\, and/or those with a demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity\, inclusion\, access and equity in the academy. Participants are members of a cohort who together engage in series of professional and career development activities including monthly NextGen Professors cohort meetings\, Power Mentoring Sessions with faculty\, and the Future Professors Institute.
