SUMMARY:Careers in… Librarianship
DESCRIPTION:Learn about different types of industry careers in Libraries. Come join this panel discussion and interactive networking session with professionals. The speakers will share their advice\, pros and cons of working in this environment\, educational/experience requirements and how they transitioned into this field. Come armed with your own questions which will be discussed throughout the session. \nPanelists are:  \nLyndsi Prignon who is the Director of Human Resources for the Cornell University Library and the University Press. She is responsible for leading the HR function. She will discuss what the Human Resource team looks for when recruiting for Library and Reserve positions. Lyndsi holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration & Marketing from Elmira College and is a Certified Human Resources Professional with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).  \nMatthew Kibbee is a Reference and Information Assistant at Mann Library where he assists patrons with their research and supervises the library’s student employees. He received his M.A. from University of Chicago and his Ph.D\, in English Literature from Cornell University. \nJasmine Burns (she/her) is the Visual Resources Metadata Librarian at Cornell University Library (CUL). Jasmine holds a BA in Art History and Spanish Literature from SUNY Albany\, an MA in Art History from Binghamton University\, and an MLIS from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Her previous work experience includes museum educator\, Junior Fellow at the Library of Congress\, and visual literacy librarian. Jasmine has served in a number of leadership roles at a local and national level\, including on several hiring committees for librarian positions at CUL. \nCarrie Jedlicka is a Clinical Medical Librarian at the Samuel J. Wood Library & C.V. Starr Biomedical Information Center at Weill Cornell Medicine. As Clinical Medical Librarian\, she supports the information needs of clinical faculty and staff at New York-Presbyterian/Weil Cornell Medicine (NYP/WCM) by conducting literature searches for clinical queries\, research projects\, and manuscripts for publication. Other aspects of her role include answering reference questions\, helping maintain the library’s Balanced Scorecard (strategic planning program)\, facilitating educational workshops\, and contributing to grant editing. Carrie graduated from the Master of Library Science (MLS) program at Queens College in December 2019. She also has a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Georgia.  Previously\, she worked for seven years in roles including therapist and case manager at various non-profits in New York and Georgia.  \nTo Register \n\nWe strive to make our events accessible to all community members.
