J&J Scholars of Oncology Diversity Engagement Program (SODEP)

This program aims to build relationships with exceptional and diverse PhD or MD/PhD students, PharmD students, and post-doctoral researchers to contribute to shaping their career, and bring greater visibility to J&J job opportunities by providing industry exposure and mentorship from senior R&D leaders at Janssen.

There are two steps of J&J SODEP: Exposure and Mentorship

  1. Exposure is a virtual Oncology Day on September 10, 2024, with applications accepted until August 30, 2024. At the Oncology Day, attendees will be exposed to the R&D process within industry and obtain an understanding of the critical skillsets fostering a successful industry career. Those who attend the Oncology Day will have the opportunity to apply to advance to the next step.
  2. Mentoring: scholars who attend Oncology Day can apply for this second step, to be paired with J&J leaders in an ongoing 1-year mentoring experience. Applications for this step will be due in on October 1, 2024.

What it’s all about

We all believe that an increase in scientists and physicians from diverse backgrounds is a necessity to address the numerous health inequities that currently exist in certain populations within our society. The intent of this program is to provide promising students a unique opportunity towards obtaining the best research and employment opportunities within industry or academia, and to set themselves up for success in their long-term careers in the sciences.
