On campus/remote unpaid internship opportunity for grad students

I’m Dan, the founder of CareTech Human, a life science startup incubated through Cornell’s Center for Life Science Ventures.

We’re looking for a Scientific Writing Intern to help us bring two peer-reviewed publications into print over the course of the summer.

Please feel free to circulate this position to candidates who may be a strong fit.

Internship overview:

CareTech Human is a medical device startup redefining urological diagnostics. Our toilet-integrated device uses advanced sensors to collect voiding behavioral data and perform urine molecular analyses, with results uploaded for real-time assessment.

We currently have two manuscript-ready datasets and preliminary reports in hand. We need a sharp scientific writer who can evaluate what we have, identify gaps and ensure they are addressed, and convert the material into submission-ready manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals. This work will help advance urological diagnostics and directly informs how urologists and oncologists evaluate and adopt novel point-of-care tools.

Tasks:

·        Review existing preliminary data reports and identify missing elements required for publication (e.g., statistical analyses, literature context, methods detail, figure formatting)

·        Research appropriate target journals and tailor manuscripts to those journals’ scope, format, and style requirements

·        Draft, revise, and submit two full manuscripts

·        Coordinate manuscript reviews with the CareTech team and prepare responses to reviewer feedback

You will receive authorship on both published manuscripts, deepen your scientific writing skills in the subjects of urology and oncology, and receive direct exposure to an early-stage medtech startup environment.

Ideal Candidate:

·        Graduate student (Master’s or PhD) in life science, health science, bioengineering, or related fields

·        Familiarity with peer-reviewed scientific writing

·        Comfort reading and interpreting clinical or translational research data

·        Prior experience with medical writing, journal formatting, or IRB/clinical study documentation is a plus but not required

This is a hybrid or fully remote (Ithaca/NYC), unpaid position.

Please send your CV and a brief note on why this project interests you to recruitment@caretechhuman.com
