Summer internship: Innovation Scout
Want to contribute to supporting UN Sustainable Development Goals to impact climate change, sustainability and education as a social entrepreneur? Graduate students and young professionals interested in applying to Equal Innovation’s Innovation Scout program: apply now to this paid summer fellowship that can be full time or part time. The program provides students with an opportunity to interview 50-60 startups over the course of the summer across various sectors, including climate, AI, health care and others. Scouts also support Equal Innovation startup events at the United Nations General Assembly, G20 in Brazil and COP29.

2024 INNOVATION SCOUT
Equal Innovation is seeking graduate students to join our fast-growing team as Innovation Scouts on a part-time (20 hrs./week) basis.

We have worked with the Heads of State, Fortune 100 corporations, major foundations and investors from around the world to source and scout researchers and startups for collaboration and investment in areas like climate change, sustainability, education, health care and breakthrough technologies like AI, gene editing and media.
About the Role:
Under the guidance of the Innovation Partnerships Manager, Innovation Scouts will be responsible for managing Equal Innovation’s research, outreach and profiling of emerging startups that have recently graduated from the world’s best innovation centers, entrepreneurship programs and startup accelerators. The successful candidate will have an interest in learning about innovation, startups and achieving impact. He/she will have experience leading teams and learning about different topics. The candidate will also be familiar with the innovation and entrepreneurship process and have strong communications and English skills.
Responsibilities:
- Interview startups identified by Equal Innovation to develop a deep understanding of their products, teams, operations and intended impact to an SDG-related challenge (UN sustainable development goals).
- Support Equal Innovation in the development of its startup ecosystem
- Support Equal Innovation in the analysis of our database on Startups, Accelerators and Incubators
- May occasionally need to work some evenings and weekends for events as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate student
- Knowledge of CRM (customer relationship management) database tools, such as ZOHO, Salesforce, HubSpot or the like that are used in customer relationship management is highly desirable
- Goal-oriented and experience with developing and delivering on SMART goals
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary/multicultural team
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging work environment and respond to shifting priorities
- Strong commitment to the role of technology to achieve positive impact in the world
- Preferred: Experience with innovation programs or startup accelerators
Compensation:
- Compensation would be commensurate with the skills and qualifications and be subject to University policies
