The 18th Annual Biological and Biomedical Sciences Symposium brings together researchers from a myriad of departments and fields to celebrate and learn. With a high profile keynote speaker; faculty, postdoc, and student talks; a poster session; and four breakout sessions, this is an event not to miss!

The breakout sessions will be focused on:

  • exposing participants to a wide variety of careers for PhDs through conversations with alumni (confirmed alumni: Ezen Choo, Associate Clinical Variant Curator at Natera; Melissa Toledo, Embryologist at Extend Fertility; Florencia Ardon, Program Manager and Advisor at Cornell University; Rob MacDonald, Senior Research Associate, Flow Cytometry Group at Cell Signaling Technology) and Christa Heyward, Co-Founder of Bramante Bioscience.
  • a special hands-on workshop on science communication
  • shedding light on the transition periods for a faculty career path, and
  • helping first year PhDs navigate Cornell through mentorship from upperclass students

This year’s theme centers around layers of “The Gut”, its microbiome, and much more.

There’s even an ice cream social…

Graduate student organizers: Sarah Post, John Villanueva, and Kaley Wilburn
