Exponent is an engineering and scientific consulting firm that hires advanced-degree students in a variety of engineering disciplines. We work on many of the most contemporary and prominent engineering problems in the world. We are looking for graduate students with strong communication skills who are willing to learn on the job and apply their education in unexpected ways. Dr. Horton is a Senior Scientist in Exponent’s Electrical Engineering and Computer Science practice. His work includes optical system design with applications in medicine and consumer electronics, including laser-based medical devices as well as LIDAR and 3D laser depth perception sensors. His projects include optical raytrace analysis as well as safety assessments of electronic devices in explosive environments. He is skilled in areas related to failure analysis, product safety, optical system design, microscopy, biomedical & tissue optics, and nonlinear & femtosecond optics. Dr. Horton received a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Cornell in 2015.
