UPSIDE Foods started as Memphis Meats in 2015 and has grown to become the largest cultivated meat company, with a valuation over $1B, and the first cultivated meat company in the U.S. to receive FDA greenlight.

About the organizer

The Cornell Institute for Food Systems (CIFS) comprises a multidisciplinary group of Faculty Fellows who tackle diverse issues in the food industry to meet this challenge. Bringing together nearly one hundred Cornell faculty members, the CIFS Faculty Fellows are drawn from a variety of Cornell departments. The challenge is feeding seven billion people – nine billion by 2050.

CIFS Faculty Fellows engage with the Institute and its industry partners in a variety of mechanisms including collaborative research, scientific advisory roles, and developing talent pipelines.

A central vehicle for industry engagement with the CIFS Faculty Fellows is the Cornell Institute for Food Systems Industry Partnership Program (CIFS-IPP), CIFS’s flagship corporate affiliates program.
