Career Path Series: Start-Ups
November 9, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
- This event has passed.
Recently, there has been a surge in start-up spinoffs from academic institutions, creating opportunities for PhD and postdoc fellows to take their research into the commercial space. This rise of start-ups requires individuals to play multiple roles such as creating the organization (i.e. identifying the employee structure), managing a lab, fundraising, communicating the mission to diverse audiences, creating short-term strategies to meet the long-term goals, and more.
Brought to you by the NY Academy of Sciences
To learn about these, join us for the next in our Career Path Series: Start-Ups on November 9 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM EST. This session, like all of our Career Path series, is FREE to Academy members. Cornell membership is accessible to all grad students and postdocs. (Free memberships for Cornell graduate students and postdocs.)
During this one-hour webinar, you’ll hear about:
- Opportunities available to individuals seeking a career in the start-up space
- How one should plan and strategize to transition into this profession as an entrepreneur, as an R&D scientist and learn about the career growth opportunities
- The challenges to consider when pursuing a career in a start-up.
The event will be followed by a virtual networking opportunity with the panelists at 6:30 PM. If you have specific questions you would like the panelists to address, please email siyer@nyas.org.
